Because everyone needs to have 'KILLER' embroidered on at least one piece of clothing

Love these!

God is in the detail...

GEORGE COX FOR OKI-NI CHUKKA BOOT

So I'm still not 100% convinced about how these guys look from the front or the side (just a little bit too blah) but the back view sells it.  Loving the little flash of colour.  I'd me happy if I saw that little flash of bright red or yellow peeking out from under a pair of nicely taperd or slim cut casual trousers or jeans, gotta have a rolled cuff though.

Lost Music List.

Since my computer was stolen I have gradually been discovering exactly how much music I didn't have backed up.  Its become so frustrating wanting to listen to music I don't have anymore that I've put together a christmas music wish list.  Needless to say christmas is going to feature some hardcore re-aquiring sessions.....

When trying to start a project.....dick about with paper.

*Have been struggling to get going on this new project,  I've pulled a blank on any kind of theme or concept so settled for messing about with paper cuts and geometric doodles.  I ideas are slowly forming but so far my puddle of indecision remains pretty icy and immobile.  Massive creative brain freeze!

6.12.10

Freezing! but beautiful.

Leicester.  On the way home.
Taken while balancing a massive sack of uni crap and an arm of books, nearly gave up on finding the camera but   glad I didn't.

5.12.10

How many exposures?

The top one is strange.
How many people do you count in it?

4.12.10

OLD black and whites.

I dug out a load of undeveloped negatives from my art foundation, these are probably from the my first ever go with an analogue SLR camera.  Taken in Bath probably some time around December 2007.

3.12.10

So apparently Leicester is now Narnia....

I know its snowy and shit but seriously - it wont be lasting 100 years....

Christmas Day 1. Post 102.

When it comes to reindeer you should always start with the head...

I've been waiting ages to crack into the advent calendar.  Its been staring at me for the best part of 2 weeks now and finally......omnomnomnomnom....
Clocked on that I had past the 100 post mile stone earlier too so thought I would crack a beer and celebrate.
3 posts in 1 day, thats procrastination for you.

Snow!

So I went home last weekend from uni for the first time ever, got back on friday and by saturday morning it had snowed!  Only a dusting, but while making breakfast I got a little overexcited by the frost patterns I saw on the shed windows, grabbed the camera and ran outside for a look.   Realised I was barefoot about halfway across the frosty garden, I would not recommend going barefoot in the snow.  It woke me up, but getting ice burns on your toes for the sake of frosty shed windows isn't a particularly good plan!

Thieving bastards.

I mentioned in my last post that I had had a massive crisis, and I'm still having one, its just sinking in a bit deeper and I feel a need to articulate my fury.  I suppose the most simple and basic way of explaining things would be to say that I have had my nearly new 15inch Macbook pro stolen.  From my room in my house in Leicester.

The fucking thieveing douchbags didn't even take anything from my housemates, just my fricking computer, an old ipod nano and (just to be petty) 2 half packets of cigarettes! Bastards.
Understandably I'm fairly aggravated by this, but surprisingly its not so much the loss of an expensive (and uninsured) computer, its the simple fact that I have lost EVERYTHING on it too.
I dont have an external hard drive (another major rookie error) and have therefore lost about 6 years worth of photography, work and artwork as well as about 35G of music.  This is my massive crisis, although fortunately the day before the break in I had just handed in the first of my 3 projects for this year.  If it had happened on Monday I might have thrown myself straight in the Soar.
Whats creepy though is that the burglar alarm apparently didn't go off, and there were no signs of forced entry so we have the extra issue of working out how they got in and how they knew how to unset and reset our burglar alarms when they left.  Maybe setting tiger traps in the hallway could be a good plan for next time?

Anyway all that happened last week, last wednesday to be exact.  I could call it my one week burglary anniversary.  But I don't think I will.  Better things have happened since then like SNOW and the boiler breaking down,  it has definitely been a good week for bad luck.  On the upside though I went home and managed to recover a small amount of music and about an 8th of my photographs from an old and vaguely broken hard drive, I've even managed to borrow back an old laptop to work on, and got a crafty hot shower in this  morning while the boiler was in a good mood.  So life hasn't completely gone to shit yet.

A few more pictures of the shoe.

made.

This is the final for my latest project the brief was to create a range based around the word heritage.  I ended up going off on a tangent basing the project around vintage black and white photography, and classic menswear.  I wanted to keep it as simple and minimal as possible, the sole is lazer cut and the design is taken from photographs of old Leica lenses.  Im pretty pleased with how its turned out although there are a few niggles with the quality of the making I was just glad that the project is over.
Handed in on tuesday, but was swiftly followed by a massive crises which i will make a separate post about sooon.

New Camera

In the end I went for the Lumix G10 and I'm pretty impressed with it to be honest.  Its light, easy to use and takes a pretty decent picture.  It has survived a few nights out and a few outings into town all I need todo now is check out some of the empty buildings I keep on seeing around Leicester.

20.10.10

Bad times!

.

My trusty 3.5 year old Lumix has gone and snuffed it!  Not impressed and no idea how it happened either.  This is why cameras still need viewfinders because Digi screens do this! argh!  It will take a photo but I can't see what the hells going on. grr I feel slightly crippled now and ever since it happened I keep seeing awesome shots I could take too.  Sods law.  I will have to start lugging about an analogue everywhere i go....  Wondering on what to get to replace this now.... a DSLR?
I've been cruising which? online for the last few days (after hacking into dads account)  pondering what to do.  The best and cheapest option is looking like a Panasonic Lumix DMC-G10 which is like a big daddy to the little one I have, although it isn't a full-size DSLR its something called a MFT(micro four-thirds) camera.  I am pretty small though, kind of a Micro Four-Thirds Human, not that that makes much difference.....hmmm good reviews though, in-fact an amazing review on which? 3rd and cheapest on best buy cant be bad eh?
Panasonic Lumix DMC-G10

Or there is the Canon EOS 1000D
Canon EOS 1000D
choices. choices....and much much moneys! crap.

Ninja Tune xx

So, yet again it's been a while since my last post, and a fair amount has happened what with freshers week, settling into the new house and generally catching up with many many people.   There hasn't been much worth making a post about and I've lacked the time and inclination to do it, up until now that is....
Ninja Tune xx happened 2 weeks ago and I am still gradually coming to terms with the idea that it was possibly THE best night I am ever likely to have, Ever, possibly for the rest of my life. It definitely knocked the socks of anything that came before it in terms of lineup, atmosphere, and general experience.  Seeing DJ Kentaro, Daedelus, Dorian Concept, Kid Koala and so many more amazing acts all in one night was just mind blowing, let alone seeing them in an abandoned semi flooded car park in London.  The only negative of the night was getting incredibly wet feet while trying (and failing) to puddle dodge when moving between arch ways.  These are 2 shots I took that night. Top is some of the artwork displayed on the walls, the second is of people chilling out in the second archway.  That night was WAY more than good.
