Clocked these on Flatspot this morning. SO SAD that they dont come in womens sizes! I've been hankering after a pair of Vans trainers for a while and love the retro red colour way, the blue hightops are pretty slick looking too. *sigh* god-damn my small girlish feet!
I wrote a list of stuff I wanted to do this year wayyyy back in January and had totally forgotten about it until I found my notebook when packing up my room to move out. Most of the things I have epically failed at but one I did manage, I don't know how, but I managed it. On Tuesday my final results came through and despite being a massive dick all term, despite still going out every week and going in horrifically hungover, despite getting a crap grade for my essay, and despite training 5/6+ times a week with the uni rowing team I managed to score a 2.1. Somehow. I don't understand it but I'm not going to question it, I've had the the best and hardest 6 months of my life and still got the grade ahhhhh! so pleased !
All I have to do now graduate and find a job. Nightmare.
Summer back home started on saturday with a trip to St Paul's Carnival in Bristol. Lots of Music, lots of Curry Goat, lots of tins of Red Strip, and lots of people standing on stuff to watch lots of other people do variations of cool stuff in the street. It was pretty good, I think a definite mission again next year.
On Thursday I left Leicester and left student life for good, which is pretty sad if I'm honest. The strangest thing is that despite my room being the witness to so many drunken stumbles home, hysterics, hangovers, mess, illness', toilet papering, and allnighters this year it doesn't show it. Once my room was empty it was like I was never there, just a few sad blue tack marks and the odd bit of chipped plaster from all the things the go on my walls.
I'm now back home in the 'Shire wondering what to do between now and eventualy getting a real job and starting my life as a 'real' person (I hope its not as shit as it looks from the outside).
Yesterday I handed in my last EVER university project after one of the most brutal weekends of work I think I've ever done. Working roughly 45 hours over 3 days in front of a computer was knackering but its all done, presented, and over. Needless to say I'm fairly hangin' today following some hardcore celebrating.
The final project was based around the moustache, a weird choice yeah but I thought it was pretty cool. From a final collection of 6 designs I made three (one trainer and two formal) plus a satchel bag big enough to use as a laptop case for my 15inch mac pro - just because I could.
So I have done now, well, except for getting everything sorted out for the degree show next month which will be bundles of fun I'm sure. I think I'm supposed to contend with the real world now, what a terrifying thought.
I wrote this list on Monday while traveling back to Leicester on the train. It is a list of everything I need to do for my final major project plus a little drawing of how it makes me feel.....I'm not a happy bunny at the prospect of spending the next 19 days chained to my laptop. On the upside it is only 19 days and after that I will be FREE!
MP3 Release was bought forward 24 hours to today. Made me happy. In fact finding out that a new album was due out made my week. On second listen of the album and I'm thinking that its going to be a grower much like In Rainbows was.
Put up the new video so you get to see Thom York at his weird bendy best. Kinda weird. But that's always to be expected.
These are a few things from my last project. I know it's been a while coming, but crazy busy doesn't quite cover how distracted I've been in the last few weeks. The high top design is based loosely around my earlier experiments with paper, focusing on manipulating materials and making something a bit more 'street' and Supra-like. Yet another mens wear project (wooo!)
Have been asked to do a few extra variations on it by a careers lady who spoke to us yesterday, lots of words like 'online portfolio', 'CV', 'interview technique', and 'Job' were mentioned with far too much emphasis on how soon all this would start kicking off for my liking.
Just a Dissertation and Final Major Project left now. Feeling the fear!
Another opportunity to make a post about this design. It has been picked as one of six designs from my class to be displayed at the Moda exhibition in February, which is MASSIVELY exciting for all of us.
Moda is basically a big footwear trade show that will, hopefully, give us all a little extra exposure to those who will be giving us jobs in a few months time (that's the idea anyway)
I'm in the process of making a fashion men'shigh top at the moment and will crash some pictures of that up once its done, the mock up is looking kinda cool at the moment and hopefully the final will be better.
In other news a very lovely guy called Mr. Hare posted one of my photos on his blog the other day, this shouldn't be big news except that Mr. Hare makes shoes like thismrhare.co.uk/purestform
January. The XX. I was still massivly overplaying the XX's album. VCR remains one of my all time favourite tracks.
Febuary. Mt Eden. I stumbled on this track while doing a little extreme procrastination on youtube, needless to say i got fairly obsessed with the album for about 3 weeks and now cant stomach it.
March. Burial. Untrue. The end of winter was a time for a massive Burial revival. I'd had the albums for ages but didn't quite 'get it' till this point.
April. The Logic of Chance. Easter was all about these guys.
May. Sun Giant.
June. Cosmogramma. This is a quality album, if you dont have it get it.
July. High Scores. For chilled out summer times.
August. Sex Dreams and Denim Jeans. I heard Uffie first when I was about 17 so when I heard she finaly had an album out I went a bit nuts. I love this album in the way a dieter likes cake, I fucking love it but I kinda dont want to. Its hard to explain.
September. The Rogue EP. I was all about the Correspondents after seeing them play Bestival. They are INCREADIBLE live.
October. Maxinquay. Discovered this album after reading a random review of Tricky's newest release online and thought I woud start out at the beginning, this is a lovely spacy trip hop album.
November. When Machines Exceed Human Intelligence. Nothing better than a bit of dirty techno for Autumn
December. Based on a True Story. Finally got round to listening to these guys after downloading them months before. Quality.
Special mention also goes to :
I played this remix incessently through most of last winter as well as Ellie Gouldings album, I brutaly overplayed it and have been recovering ever since.
